Live close to me - Jesus Calling

You can live as close to Me as you choose.  I set up no barriers between us; neither do I tear down barriers that you erect.
People tend to think their circumstances determine the quality of their lives.  So they pour their energy into trying to control those situations.  They feel happy when things are going well, and sad or frustrated when things don't turn out as they had hoped.  They rarely question this correlation between circumstances and feelings.  Yet it is possible to be content in any and every situation.
Put more energy into trusting ME and enjoying My Presence.  Don't let your well-being depend on your circumstances.  Instead, connect your joy to My precious promises:

I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go.
I will meet all your needs according to My glorious riches.
Nothing in all creation will be able to separate you from My Love.

Philippians 4:12, Philippians 4:19, Genesis 28:15, Romans 8:38-39

I read this today and thought about where some us are this morning with the results of the election.  We can only trust our Lord and God.  No matter what, we have to trust Him.
Thats all I can do, and keep praying for our country.  Asking God to please forgive us for what we have done in this nation.

God Bless America!!

Beware of seeing yourself

Jesus Calling

Beware of seeing yourself through other people's eyes.  There are several dangers to this practice.  First of all, it is nearly impossible to discern what others actually think of you.  Moreover, their views of you are variable, subject to each viewer's spiritual, emotional, and physical condition.  The major problem with letting others define you is that it borders on idolatry.  Your concern to please others dampens your desire to please Me, your Creator.

It is much more real to see yourself through MY Eyes.  My gaze upon you is steady and sure, untainted by sin.  Through My eyes you can see yourself as one who is deeply, eternally loved.  Rest in My loving gaze, and you will receive deep Peace.  Respond to My loving Presence by worshipping Me in spirit and in truth.

Pray for Those in Authority

Pray for Those in Authority
TGIF Today God Is First Volume 2, by Os Hillman
10-13-2008

"I urge, then, first of all, requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all men; for kings and those in authority" (1 Timothy 2:1).

In I Timothy 2:1 Paul exhorts his young protegé to make prayer and intercession for those in authority the first work of the church.

Whereas we once thought of those in politics, military, religion, and economics as controlling the earth, today we recognize the enormous influence wielded by those in the workplace. Our mindsets are changing; those in the workplace, including business leaders, we now include as those in authority. They, too, are among those Paul exhorted Timothy to cover in prayer.

God is transferring his anointing to be placed upon all saints to get the job done. This is requiring the local church to give more focus on equipping men and women to live out their faith in the workplace. The modern day Church is in a major shift! It is not surprising that the Lord would begin to move in this way. If we are going to see a major harvest in the last days, it will have to come through the largest segment of the body of Christ - those who are Christ's representatives in government, business, and education.

The book of Acts records Lydia, a businesswoman, as God's instrument to introduce the gospel to Europe. The Ethiopian eunuch who was in charge of the treasury of Candace, "Queen of the Ethiopians", introduced the gospel to Africa. Peter launched the gospel into the gentile world through Cornelius, a Roman centurion. And three "workplace ministers" reached Europe, Africa, and the gentiles. These examples indicate the importance of the workplace influence and why intercession is so important for leaders in places of authority.

Today, pray for those leaders in government, business and education.

Jesus Calling/ a now word

Trust Me and refuse to worry, for I am your Strength and Song.  You are feeling wobbly this morning, looking at difficult times looming ahead, measuring them against your own strength.  However, they are not today's tasks - or even tomorrow's.  So leave them in the future and come home to the present, where you will find Me waiting for you.  Since I am your Strength, I can empower you to handle each task as it comes.  Because I am your Song, I can give you Joy as you work alongside Me.
Keep bringing your mind back to the present moment.  Among all My creatures, only humans can anticipate future events.  This ability is a blessing, but it becomes a curse whenever it is misused.  If you use your magnificent mind to worry about tomorrow, you cloak yourself in dark unbelief.  However, when the hope of heaven fills your thoughts, the Light of My Presence envelops you.  Though heaven is future, it is also present tense.  As you walk in the Light with Me, you have one foot on earth and one foot in heaven.

Exodus 15:2         2Corinthians 10:5              Hebrews  10:23

I couldnt help but think of all the things that are going on in the stock market right now when I read this.  God says no matter what i t looks like on the outside, see it with his eyes.  Don't worry about the little stuff.   That stuff is not important, God has a bigger plan and we need to focus on what that is.  I have really not been shaken by what is going on today.  I keep praising God and I keep reading Philippians 4:19 ---God Supplies ALL my needs!  thats the only thing I can do and trust him.  And have faith that he will ALWAYS come through.  And he always has!!
God Bless you today my friends and be encouraged help is on the way.

TEN LITTLE CHRISTIANS

 TEN LITTLE CHRISTIANS

Ten little Christians standing in a line,
One disliked the pastor, then there were nine.
Nine little Christians stayed up very late,
One slept in on Sunday, then there were eight.

Eight little Christians on their way to heaven,
One took the low road, then there were seven.
Seven little Christians chirping like chicks,
One disliked the music, then there were six.

Six little Christians seemed very much alive,
But one lost his interest, then there were five.
Five little Christians pulling for Heaven's shore,
But one stopped to rest, then there were four.

Four little Christians, each busy as a bee,
One got her feelings hurt, then there were three.
Three little Christians knew what to do,
One joined the sports crowd, then there were two.

Two little Christians, our rhyme is nearly done,
Differed with each other, then there was one.
One little Christian can't do much 'tis true;
Brought his friend to Bible study, then there were two.

Two earnest Christians, each won one more,
That doubled their number, then there were four.
Four sincere Christians worked early and late,
Each won another, then there were eight.

Eight little Christians, if they doubled as before,
In just a few short weeks, we'd have 1,024.
In this little jingle, there's a lesson true,
You belong to the building, or the wrecking crew.

I'd Dance

I’d dance in the morning
When the world has begun
I’d dance in the moonlight
For the glory of His Son
I’d dance for Heaven, dearly on earth
Sweet of frankincense, and gifts, from birth

I’d dance for Father, Son, and even the Holy Ghost
I would love to dance for he who loves me most
I dance for the God's fishermen
Of the Gospel clan and Redemption's plan
As I’m sure, they’d all come with along me
We'd dance, together, on humanity's great sea

I’d dance on Sabbath, the Religionist to distain
I’d cure all the wounded, blind, and also the lame
I tell you: I dance in the Cross, for Victory so bright
For what's central to beauty and void envy's flight
If given a chance~ I’d even dance on the devil’s grave
For oh, I do love dancing for my Lord God and KING
I'm awesomely restored; how can I not but dance and sing

At the Verge of Breakthrough

I read this today and BOY IS IT ME!!!
I couldn't help but share with my friends

Victoria Boyson:
"He Has You Hidden for a Purpose - You Are His Secret Weapon!"

"My frame was not hidden from You when I was made in the secret place." Psalm 139:15

victoria boysonAt the Verge of Breakthrough

Have you ever felt forgotten by God? Do you feel invisible? Does God seem to be blessing everyone except you? Do your expectations of God seem to meet with cold indifference from Him?

If your answer is "yes," then rejoice, because you are at the edge of a miracle! You are on the verge of a breakthrough! The door to your destiny is about to swing open!

The most difficult time of any birth is the few moments right before you deliver your baby into the world. You are exhausted beyond what you can even endure...you cannot stand it anymore. You have pushed and pushed and have exhausted all your strength. You want to scream, "I can't do this...I can't!" BUT you must! It is at this moment that you must push the hardest and exert yourself the most. You are crying, "I can't," and everyone around you is yelling, "PUSH!"

Then, somewhere deep inside you, strength arises! You have a determination now, where a hopeless feeling used to dwell. Now you cry from the depths of your heart, "I can," and "I will!"

You are at the verge of a breakthrough and perhaps you are tired of believing, but only you can break through to your miracle. Only you can give birth to your destiny! Only you can fight through to your dream's fulfillment. Your God will give you His strength when you have none of your own. When you fall short, He will pick you up because, "He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak" (Isaiah 40:29).

Hidden Miracles and Butterflies

I have felt this way - I have felt forgotten by God. I wondered if the promise would ever be fulfilled - if God would ever open the door. I had been teetering on the edge of a breakthrough for so long that I began to doubt. "Would it ever really happen? Maybe God has changed His mind?" I was tired of waiting, of praying, of hoping in faith! I felt like a butterfly in a cocoon, hidden and forgotten. During that time I wrote this poem:

Someday, I'll Fly...

I've not been myself lately or for some time for that matter.
I'm not sure who "myself" is anymore.
I feel like a caterpillar inside the cocoon.
I'm neither a butterfly nor a caterpillar anymore.
I'm not what I used to be nor am I what I'm going to be.
I cannot go back to what I was,
or what was familiar to me.
I can't rush forward and be what I have not yet become.
It's a miserable place to be.
It's much like a baby in the womb;
you have to wait it out and stay where you are.
I hope every day will bring the end; I know God is almost done working.
I rejoice because the end is near,
but still the pain increases.
It's become too easy to not be anything, just a cocoon.
I want to give up, but You won't let me.
I'm not the caterpillar I used to be
and I'm not the butterfly I know I am becoming.
Becoming a butterfly is scary, painful and exhausting.
I guess I don't want to remain a nothing,
so I'll endure the torturous path out of this cocoon.
And I know, someday, I'll fly!

Years ago, we lived in a house with dozens of trees around it. In the fall, the trees were covered with cocoons. We would walk by them all the time without taking much notice of them. A miracle was taking place before us and we paid little attention to it.

But in the fall, our trees were covered with hundreds of beautiful butterflies. Our children would run through the trees and the butterflies would all take flight. It was a glorious sight to see hundreds of butterflies fill the air, sunlight reflecting off their wings.

Caterpillars are ugly little things, but butterflies are gorgeous. God loves to make something beautiful out of something ugly. God loves to take the ugly things of our past that satan meant for our destruction, and turn them into a powerful weapon He can use for our construction.

"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose." Romans 8:28

Death Gives Birth to Life

God takes you through "ugly" situations only to turn you into something beautiful. The Cross looked like the end of a dream to the disciples. They expected their Messiah to come, overthrow the Romans, and establish His Kingdom on this earth. The death of Jesus looked like the end of all their dreams.

Christ tried to warn the disciples of His impending death, but when He spoke of dying, Peter declared, "This shall never happen to You!" (Matthew 16:22). Christ knew that this must happen. Like a seed planted in the ground must cease to be a seed in order to become a plant, He knew that His life on earth, as it had been, must end or He could not bring forth the gift of eternal life for those who would believe in Him.

"In a little while you will see Me no more, and then after a little while you will see Me, because I am going to the Father." John 16:17

His death gave birth to life! "Jesus said to her, 'I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me will live, even though he dies'" (John 11:25).

The "cocoon" that you are in right now is the "death" that will give birth to your destiny. The painful situation you are enduring right now could be the launching pad for your future.

If you feel as though you are invisible, rejoice that you are. God has hidden you away to change you in secret, but soon He will pull you out like a secret weapon and show you off to the world.

"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in Heaven." Matthew 5:16

Your Heavenly Father will declare, "Look at what My grace has done!" The world will praise Him because they can see what He has done in you. You are His trophy! His reward!

Some may argue then, that you have no right to be where God has placed you. But the voice of your accusers will not even reach your ears, because you have paid the price; you have endured and you have overcome.

And "You will soar on wings like eagles" (Isaiah 40:31), and yes, you will fly!

This Could Be the Day

When the expected due date for each of my children neared, I would awaken each day with the expectancy that today could be the day that I would deliver this child. Each day I would think, "Today could be the day." I never thought to myself that it just could not happen today, because I knew my time was coming and that this day could be the day that I would give birth.

As each day ended without seeing the birth of my baby, I would feel somewhat disappointed. But once again, another morning would come and I would arise with hope from Heaven, remembering that this day could be the day. And I was prepared to go at any time; I had my bags packed and gas in the car.

Each day that you serve God and wait on His timing for your destiny's fulfillment is one day closer to its birth. As you near your time of delivery, you feel in your spirit that the time is near. Perhaps today is the day! You look around and see your Christian brothers and sisters receiving the promises of God in their lives - you are happy for them.

But when is it your turn? When will your destiny come forth in the way God promised it would? Each day we must prepare our hearts to believe that, "this could be the day He fulfills His promises to me," and then suddenly He does.

The longer you serve God, the deeper you will trust Him to bring the promise to pass for you. As you near the time of receiving the fulfillment of His call on your life, you can know that every day will bring you one day closer. Today could be the day you receive a great blessing from God. Today could hold the answer you have been waiting for.

Wait in faith through each day as a woman waiting to give birth. God does not bring you to the time of birth just to stop the whole process. He did not bring you this far to leave you now. He will not forget you! It will happen! And remember that "He who began a good work in you will be faithful to complete it" (Philippians 1:6).

"God is not a man, that He should lie, or a son of man, that He should change His mind. Does He speak and then not act?" Numbers 23:19

If He's promised it, He will do it!

Say this with me: God will do what He has promised. He has not forgotten me, for I am constantly in His thoughts. God is waiting to fulfill His Word through me. It will happen! This could be the day! God cannot lie; He will not change His mind. I choose to believe what God has told me and not the lies of fear and doubt.

He has you hidden for a purpose - you are His secret weapon!

Open my eyes God!!

I watched a film last night about witnessing.  The one thing that really impressed me was he said we should talk to people with the same love that we have for our children.  That when we talk to them talk to them like we would our own children.  We wouldnt let our children walk into a fire.  Nor would we let them walk around not knowing Christ.  I really never thought of it that way.  But he is totally right.  I would never want my children to be in harms way nor would I want them to be lost.  I pray for my children every day, even more so now that they are grown.  So why do we not pray for those co-workers, family members, strangers we met every day.  Have we forgotten that this is the most important thing we do every day is to witness.  Tell our story, how Christ changed our life.  I have ask God to first, to forgive me for not loving them this way.
And to give me a better understanding to witness to them more and to be more alert to what THEIR needs.  I pray for each one of you today that reads this.  That God will open up your heart to hear what he says to you today.   God Bless!

Father, I ask you to bless my friends reading this right now. I am asking You to minister to their s pirit at this very moment. Where there is pain, give them Your peace and mercy. Where there is self doubting, release a renewed confidence to work through them. Where there is tiredness or exhaustion, I ask You to give them understanding, guidance, and strength as they learn submission to Your leading. Where there is spiritual stagnation, I ask You to renew them by revealing Your nearness, and by drawing them into greater intimacy with You. Where there is fear, reveal Your love, and release to them Your courage. Where there is a sin blocking them, reveal it, and break its hold over my friend's life.

Bless their finances, give them greater vision, and raise up leaders and friends to support and encourage them. Give each of them discernment to recognize the evil forces around them, and reveal to them the power they have in You to defeat it. I ask you to do these things in Jesus' name.  Amen

I am the Potter - Jesus Calling

I am the Potter; you are My clay.  I designed you before the foundation of the world.  I arrange the events of each day to form you into this preconceived pattern.  My everlasting Love is at work in every event of your life.  On some days your will and Mine flow smoothly together.  You tend to feel in control of your life when our wills are in harmony.  On other days you feel as if you are swimming upstream, against the current of My purposes.  When that happens, STOP and Seek My Face.  The opposition you feel may be from Me, or it may be from the evil one.
Talk with Me about what you are experiencing.  Let My Spirit guide you through treacherous waters.  As you move through the turbulent stream with Me, let circumstances mold you into the one I desire you to be.  Say yes to your Potter as you go through this day.

Isaiah 64:8
But now, O Lord, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.

Psalms 27:8
When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, Lord, will I seek.

Job 33:6
Behold, I am according to thy wish in God's stead: I also am formed out of the clay.

"The most common way of making early pottery was by hand. This method usually was abandoned after the invention of the wheel. The former method commonly used coils of clay to form the shape of the vessel, which was then smoothed off into finished form. Most of the pottery used in Bible times was thrown on the wheel...The better vessels were finished off with a slip, which is an extra pure grade of clay that will produce the finest of colors. It was the consistency of cream and was applied to the vessel before firing. An additional technique, which produced one of the most pleasing patterns, was burnishing...To burnish a vessel the potter used a hard instrument, such as a piece of bone, and pressed against the original vessel or the slipped vessel, producing the desired pattern. This method gave a play of light and shadow to the fired vessel."

"Jeremiah 18:1-6 refers to the potter's house. This was not a reference to the home of the potter, but to his place of manufacture. The house would be near to a field where clay could be weathered and stored and where it could be prepared for fashioning. A kiln for firing the ware and a dump for the broken and discarded vessels would be a part of the potter's complex. the house would provide cover for the wheel upon which the potter would fashion his vessels in all kinds of weather. This building would also make possible the control of the drying process before the firing. It would be necessary to closely watch the evaporation of the newly fashioned objects since this would also influence the results of the firing process. Although most of the pottery in Biblical times was shaped on the potter's wheel, the one specific reference to the wheel in the OT is Jeremiah 18:3. There were two types of wheel. The hand-turned wheel consisted of two discs. The heavier wheel below gave momentum to keep the lighter one above turning, but the vessel was shaped on the upper wheel. The foot-turned wheel consisted of a large wheel which was turned below by the potter's foot. The small wheel above, connected to the lower wheel by a shaft, was the one on which the prepared clay was thrown and fashioned by the potter. The apocrypha includes a detailed account of the work of the potter at the wheel (Ecclus. 38:29-32). As the ball of plastic clay spun around rapidly, the centrifugal force upon the clay was controlled by the deft fingers of the potter so that any desired vessel could be obtained as long as the quality of the clay permitted the completion of the vessel. Jeremiah witnessed that factors can be present that defeat the original intention of the potter. The clay may be the wrong kind. It may have too many impurities. The treading may not have been properly done, or the potter may have failed to place the ball of plastic clay in the exact center of the wheel. If the clay does not yield the desired product, the potter can then reshape the clay into a ball and produce another vessel. It was this process that Jeremiah noted carefully." (The Zondervan Pictorial Encyclopedia of the Bible, 1978).

My every WHEN

Dear God, Thank you for caring so much that you sent your Holy Spirit to touch me and live within me, sealing me unto the day of redemption. Thank you that there is an Intercessor and Savior, praying for me and standing in my stead when I do not even have the words to say. Sometimes, there is just so much to pray for, so many needs or so much heartache that I just do not know what to pray. But you know my heart. You know my needs. You know the needs of those for whom I am burdened. Father, I come to you now offering words of praise and thanksgiving, and trusting you to always be there and to answer the cries of the heart. I love you. In Jesus' name, amen.

Gideon's Success Test
 by Os Hillman

"All Israel prostituted themselves by worshiping [the idol] there, and it became a snare to Gideon and his family" (Judg. 8:27).

Israel was at war with the Midianites and the Amalekites. So God chose a humble young man, Gideon, to deliver Israel by cleansing the land of idols. After submitting a fleece to determine it was God calling him, Gideon obeyed the Lord and destroyed the pagan idols in the region. Then he summoned a large army?over 30,000 men?to fight the Midianites and Amalekites. God said the army was too large, so He first reduced Gideon's army 10,000 men, and then to a mere 300 men. When God gave Israel the victory with an army of only 300 men, all of Israel knew that it was the power of God, not the strength of his army.

If the story had ended there, all would have been well. But at the moment of Israel's triumph, Gideon stumbled. He told the people, "I do have one request, that each of you give me an earring from your share of the plunder." The Israelites took the gold from the bodies of the enemy dead and Gideon melted it and fashioned it into an idol. The Bible calls this idol an ephod, a word that refers to a ceremonial breastplate?Gideon probably depicted the Lord God as a warrior with an ephod of gold.

But God does not allow Himself to be represented by an idol. This idol was an offense against God and a trap for the people. After Gideon's death, the Israelites again worshiped the pagan god Baal. They forgot the Lord God who rescued them from their enemies.

The story of Gideon has a great beginning, but a tragic ending. This is an instructive lesson for us all. As the apostle Paul tells us, "If you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don't fall!" (1 Cor. 10:12).

If we fail the Success Test we must go back to God without fear. We can ask Him to help us learn the lessons of our failure and to strengthen us for another effort. The God of second chances is able to accomplish His purpose through us even if we have failed Him many times before.

I know for me there have been times in my life that I have felt like I have totally messed up.  That there was no way that God would ever want to use me again.  And I would drag myself back to him and cry to him.  And every time he would take me back.   I just heard that the word time & always is not how we see it.  God see those words as "WHEN".  When it says always, replace it with the word when.   So every when, God takes us back.  When we mess up, when we run away, when we pray, when we cry out to him.   He is always there at our every when.  I am grateful for my every when, I know he is there, He said he would be.

Pride that Leads to Arguments

Pride that Leads to Arguments
by Os Hillman

"Warn a divisive person once, and then warn him a second time. After that, have nothing to do with him. You may be sure that such a man is warped and sinful; he is self-condemned" (Titus 3:10-11).

Have you ever had to deal with a person that just wanted to argue with you, no matter which position they took? This person usually has a strong opinion and draws conclusions quickly, rarely giving credence to other's viewpoint.

The apostle Paul knew how to deal with such people. Once he saw this pattern, he confronted the person. If they continued, he cut off fellowship. However, if this person happens to be your boss, you will not be able to avoid the person.

The root stronghold of a person who is argumentative is pride and fear. This person is not secure in who they are as a person. They mask their inadequacies through a need to always be right.

I had a business partner once who was deeply hurt by lawyers in a corporate take-over. Ever since that time he was argumentative with every lawyer he had to deal with. One time, I had to confront him and tell him what was behind his behavior. Thankfully, he had the grace and humility to repent and renounce his stronghold of pride, insecurity and fear. We proceeded to finish our project.

When you run into this in the workplace, pray for understanding. Negative behavior is like the warning light on your car dashboard. It's telling you there is something going on under the hood. Realize this person is in a prison guarded by a root stronghold that has been a part of his/her life for along time. Unfortunately, it usually takes a significant crisis for that person to examine themselves and become free.

Pray that God gives you grace to work with such a person and pray that God will deliver them.

Jesus Calling

I am a God who heals, I heal broken bodies, broken minds, broken hearts, broken lives, and broken relationships.  My very Presence has immense healing powers.  You cannot live close to Me withour experiencing some degree of healing.  However, it is also true that you have not because you ask not.  You receive the healing that flows naturally from My Presence, whether you seek it or not.  But there is more - much more - available to those who ask.

The first step in receiving healing is to live ever so close to Me.  The benefits of this pratice are too numerous to list.  As you grow more and more intimate with Me, I reveal My will to you more directly.  When the time is right, I prompt you to ask for healing of some brokenness in you or in another person.  The healing may be instantaneous, or it may be a process.  That is up to Me.  Your part is to trust Me fully and to thank Me for the restoration that has begun.

I rarely heal all the brokenness in a person's life.  Even My servant Paul was told, "My grace is sufficient for you," when he sought healing for the thorn in his flesh.  Nonetheless, much healing is available to those whose lives are intimately interwoven with Mine, Ask, and you will receive.
Ps 103:3, James 4:2, 2Corinthians 12:7-9, Matthew 7:7

Stoplight Faith

Today's Prayer
Dear God, please forgive me. I sometimes look at those I see and get frustrated by the way they are. Some are angry and act ugly and even curse. Others have no desire to do what is right. Some just want to "party" and live like the world all the time. Some are lazy. Some are hurting and holding on to bitterness. I don't always understand why they are that way. Then I, in my frustration, become angry and grumble. Forgive me for my ungodly attitudes and complaining. I am sorry. Help me to see the potential in others and to pray for them more and criticize them less. I pray that through my prayers to you and through my Christian testimony and example and through my words and deeds, these people would come to know you or come back and lay their issues on the altar. I pray that we all will lift our burdens to you and drop them at your feet, so that you can take them away and guide us in the way everlasting. Please relieve our griefs and burdens and replace them with your peace. Please bless us as we serve you. Please help us and pick us help when we stumble. Thank you for your mercies. In Jesus' name I pray, amen.

Stoplight Faith
 by Os Hillman

"And he did not do many miracles there because of their lack of faith" (Matt 13:58).

You can learn a lot about people in traffic. For instance, I observe a lot when I see 20 cars in one line and only 3 cars in another. The reason for the longer line is these people want to make sure they get to make their turn after the light. I, on the other hand, want to get through the light first, then I will worry about making the next turn. This is a difference in risk taking tolerance, or perhaps faith; or even some might argue with me that I'm operating out of presumption versus real faith.

No matter which person you might be in this situation, it is sure that faith is often spelled R.I.S.K. When the priests carried the ark into the Jordan River at flood stage there was a risk they could lose the ark to the Jordan River. However, that is not what happened. "And as soon as the priests who carry the ark of the LORD, the Lord of all the earth set foot in the Jordan, its waters flowing downstream will be cut off and stand up in a heap" (Josh 3:13). God changed the entire environment and made it possible to walk across without the pressure of wading through the powerful water only when they took the first step.  Risk means there is a potential for loss. However, when God leads us to take a risk, then He is there whether we succeed or fail. He is there in the success and He is there in the failure. If He leads you to take a risk it may not always succeed in the way you think. In fact, it could even fail.

The only true failure is when we fail to take the risk when God is leading us to do so. Sometimes the fear of failure is the greater obstacle than the risk itself.  Has God called you to step out in an area that requires risk? This could be the place He wants you to move. Ask Jesus to give you the courage to step out.

God's refurishing our lives

Our church had a 8/8/08 service on that friday.  It was a great "new beginning" service.  Pastor took some good ole duct tape and drawed a line on the floor and ask us all to stand on one side. Then he prayed over us and when we felt like we were ready to step over the line, we went over.  It was great!!  He was talking about getting to the other side of the boat, the right side.  He was refered to Peter going fishing and Jesus telling them to go to the other side and drop there nets.
What a great feeling we all had afterwards.   The next day, I got up with a greater purpose.  I felt like I need to do a new thing with my front deck.  Since 2004, when Hurricane Ivan came through and removed my new screened in porch.  I just haven't felt like sitting out on the deck that was left.  My chairs and glider swing have been just sitting out there.   So I made up my mind that I was going to do something about it and make it look new again .   So I got a bucket of white paint and a paint brush .  I first washed each chair with hot soapy water and let them dry (which didnt take long in 98 deg)  So I started painting, I started noticing that the wood was cracked and worn out.  That it had really taken a beaten over the last 4 yrs.  It was weather beaten.  They had set through more hurricanes, tons of thunderstorms and very hot summers.  They were really beat up.   As I was painting, God showed me that this is how some of us are in our lives.  We have been through some storms of our own.  That some of us are beaten and just worn out.  We have scars, wrinkles & stress lines.  That we have weathered trials in our lives.  God showed me as I was appling the paint that the paint was covering up all the weather beaten color, filling in all the cracks, soaking into the wood.   As it did this, it was making the surface smooth again.  It made it look "new".  I heard God so clearly, say " let me use my paint brush and fill in the cracks of  your heartaches and the storms you have been through."  I know that he wants to do that with everyone.  That when we dip ourselves into his very presence he covers us.  As I have been painting this past week (when its not raining)  I cant help but think as I paint the chairs, God is painting me.  That every crack I paint he fills in one of mine.  I pray that everyone that reads this that God will paint you too!   That you will let him fill in the holes and the broken hearts.  And let you have a "new beginning".  God bless you!!!

Do you think God is telling me something

I just got this today from a website I receive daily insight.  Do you think God is trying to tell me something or what!!  Or maybe its just me.  Thanks for the encourging words that I have gotten from you.  Its not like I dont already know these things, I just needed to be reminded.  Just like I heard last night at church, when you dont know what to do go back to the simple part.  That God loves me and thats all I need.

When Bad Things Happen

And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, "Be saved
from this perverse generation." Then those who gladly received his word were
baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them. And
they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, in the
breaking of bread, and in prayers. Then fear came upon every soul, and many
wonders and signs were done through the apostles. Now all who believed were
together, and had all things in common, and sold their possessions and
goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need. So continuing daily
with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they
ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, praising God and
having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily
those who were being saved. - Acts 2:40-47.

When bad things happen in my life my response, since I have been a Christian
has always been to turn to God. Do I blame God for the bad things that have
happened? No. Do I ask Him to help me? Yes. Does He always help me the way
that I want Him to help me? No. However, He does always bring good out of
the bad as His Word promises in Romans 8:28. I may not immediately be able
to see it, but eventually I know that I will and I have every time something
bad has happened. Is that the only way that God helps when the bad things
happen? No. He is able to hold me together and give me peace in spite of the
turmoil and the anguish that may be spinning around me. Philippians 4:6-7 is
not just words on a paper because prayer really does make a difference.
Sometimes God does move in answer to those prayers to change things
supernaturally. I would like for Him to do that every time but even when He
doesn't I trust Him to know better than I do what is best for my life
(Isaiah 55:8-9; Jeremiah 29:11).

Before I was a Christian, I did not turn to God when bad things happened. I
ponder sometimes what a great difference it would have made in my life if as
a teenager I had been walking with my Lord and had called out to Him when I
was hurting and alone. Oh, life during those days would have been so much
better, more full, more exciting, more everything..

Why do people turn away from God or blame God when bad things happen? Acts
2:42 explains why the early church did not do that, "And they continued
steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of
bread, and in prayers." This verse says much about what we need as
Christians today. When our world comes crashing in and everything is going
wrong, what do we do? Where do we turn? We should follow the example of the
early church and continue on. They "continued steadfastly." This seems to
indicate that there was at least some opposition to their doing what the
remainder of the verse states.

When all seems lost, continue on. Continue on in the "apostles' doctrine"
which was and is the Word of God. Continue on reading, studying and
meditating upon the Word of God. Continue on memorizing and imbedding the
Word of God in your hearts.

When all seems lost, continue on. Continue on in fellowship with other
Christians. Continue on provoking and encouraging others to love and good
works and assembling with other believers (Hebrews 10:24-25). Continue on
and stand firm with your labor for the Lord because we know that it is never
in vain (1 Corinthians 15:58). Continue on in that fellowship of obedience
to the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20). Continue on and you too will
have "gladness.of heart!"

When things go wrong

I have been having a battle of my own lately.  My boyfriend of 4 yrs just up and decided that we needed to go our different ways.  First, I was in shock and then I was anger.  How can you look someone in the face and tell them that you love them and then just walk away.  With a straight face.  I have spent my last night crying myself asleep.  I am too old to have to go through this.  I was praying and asking God "WHY".  We had been planning to get married in the next year.  Then this morning I was praying and I looked in my "Jesus Calling" devotion and it hit me right between the eyes.  I have to trust God and his decisions in my life.  No matter how hard .
This is what I read today:

When things seem to be going all wrong, STOP and affirm your trust in Me.  Calmly bring these matters to Me, and leave them in My capable hands.  Then, simply do the next thing.  Stay in touch with Me through thankful, trusting prayers, resting in My sovereign control.  Rejoice in Me - exult in the God of your salvation!  As you trust in Me, I make your feet like the feet of a deer.  I enable you to walk and make progress upon the high places.
Job 13:15, Psalm 18:33, Habakkuk 3:17-19

This is what I did, I had to calm down and see myself handing him over to God and just trust him to handle it.  Because I dont have any control over what is going on.crossdaily-cal-2008-08d[1]

God's Accuracy

God's accuracy may be observed in the hatching of eggs.  For example, the
eggs of the potato bug hatch in 7 days; those of the canary in 14 days;
those of the bar nyard hen in 21 days.  The eggs of ducks and geese hatch
in 28 days; those of the mallard in 35 days.  The eggs of the parrot and
the ostrich hatch in 42 days.  (Notice, they are all divisible by seven).

The lives of each of you may be ordered by the Lord in a beautiful way
for His glory, if you will only entrust Him with your life.  If you try
to regulate your own life, it will only be a mess and a failure.  Only
the One Who made the brain and the heart can successfully guide them
to a profitable end.

God's wisdom is seen in the making of an elephant.  The four legs of this
great beast all bend forward in the same direction.  No other quadruped
is so made.  God planned that this animal would have a huge body, too
large to live on two legs.  For this reason He gave it four fulcrums so
that it can rise from the ground easily.  The horse rises from the ground
on its two front legs first.  A cow rises from the ground with its two
hind legs first.  How wise the Lord is in all His works of creation!

God's wisdom is revealed in His arrangement of sections and segments, as
well as in the number of grains.  Each watermelon has an even number of
strips on the rind.  Each orange has an even number of segments.  Each

ear of corn has an even number of rows.  Each stalk of wheat has an even
number of grains.  Every bunch of bananas has on its lowest row an even
number of bananas, and each row decreases by one, so that one row has an
even number and the next row an odd number.  The waves of the sea roll in
on shore twenty-six to the minute in all kinds of weather.  All grains
are found in even numbers on the stalks, and the Lord spe cified
thirtyfold, sixtyfold, and a hundredfold - all even numbers.

God has caused the flowers to blossom at certain specified times during
the day, so that Linneus, the great botanist, once said that if he had a
conservatory containing the right kind of soil, moisture and temperature,
he could tell the time of day or night by the flowers that were open and
those that were closed!

Thus the Lord in His wonderful grace can arrange the life that is
entrusted to His care in such a way that it will carry out His purposes
and plans, and will be fragrant with His presence.  Only the God-planned
life is successful.  Only the life given over to the care of the Lord is
safe.

"FACE THE WIND – IT'S A FAITH WALK"

as I was reading this I couldnt help but remember my trips to Honduras.Sun  I had the children blow away their fears in bubbles.  That what ever they were afraid of to blow it away in the bubbles they were blowing and they would float up to the very throne room of God and he would take away all their fears.  You should have seen their faces, some were very serious about what they were afraid of and blowing it away.  These children live in fear all the time,Broken heart about being abused, beating, overworked & where their next meal will come from.  But after they blew them away, their whole face changed.Open-mouthed  And they were laughing and playing , and you could see they felt relief to know there was a God who cared about them.  As adults we seem to forget that we too can blow away our fears or what ever else is a challenge in our life.  God is there ready to take care of it for us.  We just have to ask.  I pray this verse every day, Philippians 4:9  God supplies all my needs.  I have to do this every day to remind myself he is there for me, EVERY DAY!  I pray that this will encourge you to do the same.  God bless you in your walk with Him.

The Winds of Change are Blowing

Does it feel like everything in our lives is being challenged? Sometimes it seems like our spiritual compass is spinning out of control and we can't find our direction. We put one foot down and the ground moves under the other foot. There is no doubt that we have crossed over into uncertain times. The certainty in uncertain times is to keep our anchor in Jesus.

Isaiah 41:10 says, "Do not fear for I am with you; do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand."

It's time to walk by faith and not put a lot of trust in our own understanding. The winds of change are blowing and everything in our lives is affected. These winds will show us where our house is built.

In Matthew 7:24-27, Jesus is teaching about the two houses:

"Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.

"But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall."

Two houses and two foundations. Often we feel that the winds are adverse times and difficult seasons of our lives, but what if the winds actually represents the Holy Spirit?

God is redefining His Church. God is directing the wind and we find ourselves faced with two choices. We can either turn our faces to the wind or turn our backs on the wind.

If we turn our backs to the wind, we lose sight of things to come and can become rigid and unmovable, possibly even fighting against God. If we face the wind, we find ourselves positioned to have old things blown off of us, capture new vision, and become strengthened for the days to come.

LET THE JUNK BLOW OFF YA!

This shift and change is from God and we must face this wind to get to our next place. He is getting old stuff out of us. Old mindsets, old methods, old comfortable paths and predictable lifestyles are being blown off of us in this wind.

We must avoid trying to reconstruct things God is dismantling. This change is essential. We cannot move forward without it.

God is challenging us to increase our faith. We must ask ourselves this question: Will we choose to be a people of faith or familiarity?

The truth is we cannot keep going like we are going to arrive at the place God wants us to be at. The path is turning. We have to follow Him to arrive at our destiny. We are faced with an opportunity of setting the stage for the greatest visitation of His presence that the world has ever seen.

Things are being removed and things are being added to our lives. The choice is ours. Do we turn our back on the preparation process or do we face the wind and let God reshape our lives, circumstances and mindsets for His purposes?

The very wind He sends, prunes, protects, directs and guides us. There is a higher plan in place. It is God sending this wind.

THERE GOES THE ROOF

These windy times are seasonal, but our faith must increase right now. God is blowing the lid off of our little world. When the roof is gone, there is no obstruction to seeing the Heavenly realm. Things are getting exposed. We are able to see things from God's view.

When the wind dies down, we will have a clearer picture of God, of ourselves, our assignment, and a deeper dependence on God with new levels of trust and faith. Honestly, most of the stuff we thought we just had to have, we discover we just don't need anymore and when it's gone, we won't miss it - stuff in the natural and in the spirit realm.

WHERE IS OUR FAITH?

God is taking over. He is directing the ship. As this storm comes up, will we remember God's words to us or will we be like the disciples who woke Jesus up in the boat, telling Him they were going to die?

Luke 8:22-25, "Now it happened, on a certain day, that He got into a boat with His disciples. And He said to them, 'Let us cross over to the other side of the lake.' And they launched out. But as they sailed He fell asleep. And a windstorm came down on the lake, and they were filling with water, and were in jeopardy. And they came to Him and awoke Him, saying, 'Master, Master, we are perishing!'

"Then He arose and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water. And they ceased, and there was a calm. But He said to them, 'Where is your faith?' And they were afraid, and marveled, saying to one another, 'Who can this be? For He commands even the winds and water, and they obey Him!'"

We are going to make it to the other side. The process may take us in a way we didn't see coming, but the end result is that we will be in a new place with new perspective and INCREASED FAITH!

Face the wind. It is a good thing and a God thing.
